I bought an RX10 MK4 from a camera shop displaying Sony's advertised 2 year warranty in Dec 2023. After 15 months it developed a fault, despite being very lightly used. Despite spending HOURS on the phone, webchat and emails to customer support, Sony are refusing to honour the warranty!!
They say they withdrew the 2 year warranty from the RX10 - if so they obviously forgot to tell anyone, and didn't withdraw the offer from the poor mug that paid £1700+ for the camera.
Despite giving them the opportunity to 'do the right thing' all I get is robots churning out the same message - 'extended warranty not authorised..' blah blah blah..
So, I'm not paying Sony £500+ to repair my camera - I'll get a more reasonable outfit to do that.
What I will be doing is suing Sony for breach of collateral contract and misrepresentation.
Looking at the number of comments on here regarding Sony's appalling customer service, I doubt I'll be the first to do this.
Never buying Sony again, for anything - just don't trust them..
